EVALUATION OF ANOMERICRECOGNITION IN GALACTOSE BINDING LECTINS USING CROSSLINKED HEMICELLULOSE: A COMPARATIVE STUDY THROUGH AFFINITY CHROMATOGRAPHY

The isolation of lectins by affinity chromatography with crosslinked hemicelluloses has been a common practice because the variety glycosides that they present, improving different kinds lectins, such as galactose ligands.Lectins for carbohydrates is so specific simple configuration chiral carbon can affect affinity, and there are more related to alfa-galactosidic than beta-galactosidic residues, setting up way, an anomeric recognition.The residuesseems have biological importance behavior some diseases physiological processes. This work aimed assess recognition two reported β-galactose ligands (PNA ricin) α-galactose (frutalin jacalin) in types hemicellulose (xyloglucan Tamarindus indica galactomannan Caesalpinia pulcherrima), subsequently used chromatographic matrices.
